Bethlehem, in both Lehigh and Northampton Counties in Pennsylvania, was founded by a group of Moravians on the banks of the Monocacy Creek. They named the settlement in honor of the birthplace of Jesus Christ. Until the 1850s, only Moravians were allowed to live in Bethlehem.
