Doylestown is a borough in Bucks County, and the county seat. The origins of this Pennsylvania town goes back to 1745, when William Doyle built a tavern on what is now the northwest corner of Main and State Street. Its location at the intersection of the road linking Swede's Ford (now Norristown) and Coryell's Ferry (New Hope), and the road linking Philadelphia and Easton, prompted a settlement to grow here.
