Located in the southeastern part of the state, between the Sakonnet River and the Massachusetts border, Little Compton is a small town in Newport County, Rhode Island. The first European settlers arrived from Massachusetts in 1674, one of whom was Colonel Benjamin Church. In 1682, the town was incorporated by the Plymouth Colony.
