North Kingstown is in Washington County, Rhode Island. Incorporated in 1674, North Kingstown was originally part of Kings Towne, which encompassed the current towns of North Kingstown, South Kingstown, Exeter and Narragansett. North and South Kingstown were established as separate towns in 1722 and 1723, with North Kingstown retaining the 1674 establishment date, as it included the town's earliest settlements. Wickford is a small village in North Kingstown.
