Situated on the southwestern shoreline of Washington County, Rhode Island, the Town of Westerly was founded in 1669 by John Babcock. The Pawcatuck River flows on the western border of the town, and serves as the boundary between Westerly and Pawcatuck, Connecticut. The town consists of a number of villages, including Downtown Westerly, as well as Avondale, Bradford, Dunn's Corners, Mastuxete, Misquamicut, Potter Hill, Shelter Harbor, Watch Hill, Weekapaug, White Rock, and Winnapaug.
