Cottageville is a small town in Colleton County, South Carolina. During the Great Depression, one Cottageville couple who lost their savings sold camellia plants in order to support themselves. In honor of their resourcefulness, the town adopted the camellia as its town flower and symbol. Each January, a camellia show is held.
