Murfreesboro is a city in and the county seat of the Tennessean county of Rutherford. It is considered as a commuter town or a suburb of the city of Nashville. Originally named as "Cannonsburgh," it was renamed to its current name in honor of Colonel Hardy Murfree, a Revolutionary War hero.
