The Central Texas city of Temple is located in Bell County, between Austin and Waco. Founded as a railroad town in 1881, Temple was named for Bernard Moore Temple, an engineer and surveyor for the Gulf, Colorado and Santa Fe Railway Company that established the town. Currently, Temple is known as the "Wildflower Capital of Texas".
