Kennewick, Washington, in Bencon County, is the site of the findings of Kennewick Man, the remains of a prehistoric human found i 1996. The word "kennewick" it thought to mean "grassy place," and it was once known as "Tehe," which legend has it was the giggling of a girl's laughter when she was asked the name of the area. The town was incorporated in 1904.
