Played with guns which fire paint capsules instead of live ammunition, the game of paintball is a team sport in which players eliminate one another by hitting opponents with paint in a part of the body which would be lethal were the capsule an actual bullet. There are variations of the game, and it can be adapted to be played indoors as well as outdoors. Gameplay always involves some sort of mission or goal, including elimination or capture the flag. Woodsball is the original form of paintball, and this form has players competing in a natural, usually wooded, environment. Speedball is played in open fields which are littered with bunkers which are used for protection or a hiding place. It is, as the name implies, a much faster version of the game. It is played in outdoors venues as well as commercial ones.
