1) Mark Metcalf, who played the Master, was born in Findlay, Ohio, in 1946. He has had numerous roles in TV and film, most notably in National Lampoon’s Animal House as Niedermayer and as The Maestro in Seinfeld.

2) Buffy’s sister Dawn was introduced at the very end of the fourth season and played a crucial role in the fifth. She was actually a vessel known as the key. And was the key to defeat Glory. Once Glory was defeated, Dawn stayed as Buffy’s sister. Dawn was played by Michelle Trachtenberg, who got her start in films as Harriet the Spy.

3) Robia LaMorte played teacher/gypsy, Jenny Calendar. She was also a love interest for Buffy’s mentor, Giles. Robia played the character of “Pearl” in Prince’s Diamonds & Pearls video. She left home at the age of 16 to become a dancer. Her first music video was Debbie Gibson’s Shake Your Love. Now, that’s horrifying!

4) Anthony Stewart Head (Giles) was born in England. His father was a documentary filmmaker and his mother, an actress. His brother, Murray Head, who had a smash hit in 1985 with One Night in Bangkok from the musical Chess, which was written by the same guys who masterminded ABBA. Tony has appeared on stage as Frank N. Furter in The Rocky Horror Picture Show and Jesus in Godspell. He was also the handsome chap in those popular Taster’s Choice commercials where he and a pretty neighbor flirted over coffee.

5) Amber Benson (Tara Maclay) was a Wiccan and a lesbian on BTVS. She worked with Seth Green (Oz) in the film Imaginary Crimes and with Eliza Dushku (Faith) in Bye, Bye Love. She wrote and directed the 2001 film Chances which starred James Marsters (Spike) and Tressa DiFiglia (Nicholas Brendon’s wife). She co-wrote a comic book about Tara and Willow!

6) Charisma Carpenter (Cordelia) didn’t just a play a cheerleader on TV, she was one in real life. Charisma cheered for the San Diego Chargers in 1991. She did a guest shot on Baywatch which led to her first big break, a role on Aaron Spelling’s Malibu Shores.

7) Seth Green (Oz) got his start acting in commercials as a kid, just like Sarah Michelle Gellar. He played Alyson Hanigan’s boyfriend in the film, My Stepmother is an Alien, as well as on BTVS. He does the voice of Chris in The Family Guy and has appeared in all three of the Austin Powers Films as Scott Evil.

8) Alyson Hannigan (Willow) gained great success post-Buffy in the American Pie film franchise. She’s also appeared in a London stage production of When Harry Met Sally with Luke Perry, who starred in the film version of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, with Kristy Swanson. In 2003, she married Alexis Denisof who can also be seen as Watcher Wesley Wyndham-Price on both Buffy and Angel.

9) James Marsters (Spike) hails from Modesto, California. He honed his craft at Julliard. James is an avid guitar player and was a member of the band Ghost of the Robot. They’ve since disbanded. In 2005 he embarked on a solo tour of the UK and Australia in support of his CD, Civilized Man.

10) Juliet Landau (Drusilla) is a ballerina turned actress. She got her first film role in 1990’s The Grifters. Her father is none other than Martin Landau. He won an Oscar for his portrayal of famed screen Dracula, Bela Lugosi, in the film Ed Wood, a film in which Drusilla also appeared.

11) Kristine Young is the birth name of Kristine Sutherland (Joyce Summers, Buffy’s mom). She has appeared in films such as Honey I Shrunk the Kids and Legal Eagles. She is married to actor John Pankow, Cousin Ira from the sitcom, Mad About You.

12) Eliza Dushku (Faith) was born in Boston. Her parents are of Albanian/Danish stock. She became legally emancipated from her parents, who are both college professors, during her run on Buffy due to the restrictions placed on minors regarding their working hours. She’s appeared in Bring It On, Wrong Turn and Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back as well as her own series on Fox, Tru Calling.

13)  Nicholas Brendon has a twin brother Kelly Donovan. Neither of them uses his real last name – they use the middle one instead. Nicholas has been a spokesperson for the SFA (Stuttering Foundation of America). He has struggled with the condition himself. He married actress Tressa DiFiglia in 2001. They met on the set of the horror film Demon Island. Nicholas started work on the series Kitchen Confidential in 2005.

14)  David Boreanaz (Angel) was one of People magazine’s 50 Most Beautiful in 1999. He married actress Jaime Bergman in 2001. They had a son, Jaden Rayne, on May 1, 2002. His dad, Dave Roberts is a Philadelphia-based weatherman and actor. Rumor has it that David was ‘discovered’ while walking his dog.

15) Sarah Michelle Gellar (Buffy) got her start in commercials while still a toddler. She’s a brilliant young woman who graduated with a 4.0 GPA from the Professional Children’s School in New York TWO YEARS early! She met her husband Freddy Prinze Jr. on the set of I Know What You Did Last Summer. They also worked together on the Scooby-Doo films. She’s also appeared in Cruel Intentions, The Grudge and Scream 2.
