The focus of this portion of our web guide is on public and private schools, colleges, unversities, and educational facilities, instruction, and programmes, at all levels, in Derry/Londonderry, Northern Ireland.

The education system in Northern Ireland differs in significant ways from the rest of the United Kingdom, although it shares similarities with Wales, but it more closely resembles that of the Republic of Ireland.

The Magee Campus of Ulster University is in Derry, occupying the campus of the former Magee College. Magee College opened in 1865 as a Presbyterian arts and theological college. The decision to base Northern Ireland's second university in Coleraine rather than Derry contributed to the formation of the Catholic civil rights movement that led to the Troubles, particularly given that Derry was more closely associated with higher learning.

The Magee Campus is one of four campuses of Ulster University. It offers a large array of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes through its four faculties: Arts, Humanities and Social Services, Computing, Engineering, and the Built Environment, Life and Health Sciences, and the Ulster Business School.

Based in Derry is the North West Regional College, a higher education college with five campuses: Strand Road (Derry), Springtown (Derry), Main Street (Limavady), Greystone (Limavady), and Derry Road (Strabane).

Founded in 1616, Foyle and Londonderry College is more commonly known as Foyle College. In 1976, Foyle College and Londonderry High School merged to form the institution.

Other secondary colleges in Derry include St. Columb's College, Oakgrove Integrated College, St. Cecilia's College, St. Mary's College, St. Joseph's Boys' School, Lisneal College, Thornhill College, Lumen Christi College, and St. Bridig's College.

Several primary schools can also be found in Derry.
