The port city of New Orleans, Louisiana, makes up the entire New Orleans Parish and is located in southeastern Louisiana, on both sides of the Mississippi River. Known as the "The Crescent City" and "The Big Easy," it is the home of the Mardi Gras in the U.S. and the site of the biggest casualties of Hurricane Katrina.
