The immune system, also called the lymphatic system, is made up of organs and tissues which manufacture, store, and carry white blood cells, which fight disease. Serious health problems occur when the immune system is overactive or underactive. Overactive immune diseases include lupus, multiple sclerosis, and fibromyalgia. Weak immune systems lead to flu, cancer, chronic fatigue syndrome. Acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) is caused by a virus which kills off the immune system.
