Beck Hansen, born Bek David Campbell, is an American musician who is known as simply Beck. Born July 8, 1970 in Los Angeles, California, he is a singer, songwriter and plays multiple instruments. He plays diverse genres, from Latin and punk to hip hop. He dropped out of high school and started a punk fanzine with the help of his girlfriend, Rain Spurlock. They moved to Vason, Washington, where Beck began performing at open-mike nights in Seattle. Subsequently, he moved to New York City. He is married to Marissa Ribisi, and together they have a son and a daughter. He is involved in Scientology most of his life, as is his wife.
