Born in Santa Monica, California August 28, 1969, Thomas Jacob Black, famous as Jack Black, is a comedian, actor, and musician who is the lead vocalist of the satirical rock band Tenacious D. His parents were satellite engineers who worked on the Hubble telescope. His mother has was born Jewish, while his father converted to Judaism. Jack himself attended Hebrew school, though for some time, he identified as an atheist. His parents divorced when he was ten, and he moved to Culver City to live with his father. He was married to Tanya Haden, whose father is jazz double bassist Charlie Haden, in March of 2006 in Big Sur, California, and they have two sons, Samuel Jason Black and Thomas David Black. Shortly after becoming a father, he decided to raise his sons in the Jewish faith, and the family now goes to synagogue together.
