His father was an abstract expressionist painter and sculptor and his mother, a poet and painter who met in a painting class in Cape Cod in Massachusetts. He went to school in Manhattan. His movie credits include his first major movie, “Bang the Drum Slowly,” “The Godfather Part II,” “Taxi Driver,” “Raging Bull,” and “Cape Fear.” He has been married twice, and has 6 children.
