Leonardo Wilhelm DiCaprio, usually called Leo, was born on November 11, 1974, in Los Angeles, California to a former legal secretary who immigrated from Germany in the 1950s and an underground comic artist and distributor of comic books. His mother says she named him Leonardo because she was looking at a da Vinci painting the first time the child kicked in her stomach. He was a recurring member of “Growing Pains” as a child and has starred in dozens of movies, including “This Boy’s Life,” “Gangs of New York,” “The Aviator,” “Blood Diamond,” and “Inception,” which is just the tip of the iceberg.
