Jamie Foxx was born Eric Marlon Bishop on December 13, 1967 in Terrell, Texas. His parents were not married, and his father changed his name when he converted to Islam, just before his parent's abandoned him. His mother's adoptive parents adopted him and raised him, and Jamie considers them his parents. He was raised in a segregated town and was a choir leader of New Hope Baptist Church. He has two daughters and lives in Sherman Oaks, California.
