Musician Alicia Keys was born Alicia Cook on January 25, 1981 in Manhattan, New York. Her parents separated when she was two and she was raised by her mother who sent her to music and dance classes from a young age. She began playing the piano when she was 7 and began writing songs when she was 14. She and her fiancé Swizz Beatz had their union and unborn child blessed in Johannesburg, South Africa in May of 2010 and were married on Corsica, an island southeast of France, three months later; shortly thereafter, she gave birth to their son Egypt. They live in New York City.
