Heathcliff Andres Ledger (April 4, 1979 - January 22, 2008) was born in Perth, Australia. He was most famous for his role in the movie Brokeback Mountain. He was well-known as an avid chess player, frequently stopping to play with other chess aficionados in Washington Square Park in Lower Manhattan in New York City. He dated actress Michelle Williams, and the two had a daughter, Matilda Rose, in 2005. They broke up in 2007. He died of an accidental overdose, officially called intoxication from prescription drugs just after he finished filming his role as the Joker in The Dark Knight, a Batman sequel.
