Maghaberry (Magaberry) is a village and townland in County Antrim, Northern Ireland.

Its name is derived from the Irish Maigh gCabraí (plain of poor land), a reference to the agricultural character of the area in earlier centuries, when the land was considered less fertile than that in surrounding districts. The anglicised form "Maghaberry" has been in use for centuries, however.

Maghaberry is in County Antrim, within the Lisburn and Castlereagh City Council area, about 9 kilometres west of Lisburn and 4 kilometres north of Moira, placing it within commuting distance of Belfast, about 19 kilometres away. Nearby settlements include Moira to the south-west, Aghalee to the west, Broomhedge to the east, and Upper Ballinderry to the north. The village is on the edge of a plateau at an average elevation of about 65 meters, giving it a slightly elevated position over the surrounding countryside.

Until the early 20th century, Maghaberry was a rural townland, centred on a crossroads. Its economy was primarily agricultural, with farming and limestone quarrying forming the backbone of local livelihoods. During World War II, Maghaberry gained strategic importance as the site of an airfield, used first by the Royal Air Force and later by the United States Army Air Force as a transit base for aircraft heading to the European theatre. After the war, the airfield was decommissioned, and surplus aircraft were dismantled there.

Historically, Maghaberry's economy was rooted in mixed farming and quarrying, reflecting the rural character of County Antrim. The limestone quarries provided building material and employment, while small-scale farming sustained the local population.

In the contemporary era, Maghaberry has transformed into a commuter settlement, with many of its residents working in nearby towns and cities, such as Lisburn and Belfast. The village itself has limited industry, but is notable for hosting HM Prison Maghaberry, a high-security facility that is one of the largest employers in the area. The prison houses long-term sentenced and remand prisoners and employs about a thousand staff. Additionally, the presence of a solar farm reflects a shift toward renewable energy in the local economy.

Sites of note within the village include HM Prison Maghaberry, as well as the "Church on the Hill," a unique ecumenical partnership between the Methodist Church and the Church of Ireland, symbolizing community cooperation, and Maghaberry Elim Church and the village hall, which are important community hubs. While no longer operational, the site of the Former WWII airfield remains a key part of the village's historical memory.
