The focal point of this portion of our guide is on schools at all levels, public or private.

From nursery school through to secondary school, Scotland uses its Curriculum for Excellence, which includes a broad general education up to the end of S3m which is the third year of secondary school, which is followed by a senior phase of learning in the final three years of secondary school.

Child can start nursery school, although private nurseries will often accept children earlier than this. Children attend primary for seven years, beginning at the age of five. Depending on the child's birthday, children attend secondary school for up to six years between the ages of twelve and eighteen.

There are also private or independent schools in Stirling that cover all ages of education, from nursery to secondary school.

In Scotland, colleges are distinct from universities. They may offer vocational training or fast-track degree entry from the age of sixteen and up, as well as school-level qualifications for people of all ages.

The University of Stirling opened on a greenfield site at the edge of town in 1967. Enrolling more than eleven thousand full-time students, it offers undergraduate and postgraduate programs, with approximately twenty percent of its students coming from overseas.

The university is situated at the foot of the Scottish Highlands, a largely rural area with mountains. Edinburgh and Glasgow are within an hour's drive.

Forth Valley College operates from three main campuses: Falkirk, Alloa, and Stirling. Most of Forth Valley College graduates progress to further study or employment following graduation.

There are four main high schools in Stirling. These are Stirling High School, Wallace High School, St. Modan's High School, and Bannockburn High School.

Scottish Gaelic is taught through a Gaelic-medium unit situated within Stirling's Riverside Primary School.

Besides formal schooling, any type of training or instruction within the city would be appropriate for this category, including tutoring programmes, homeschooling programmes, and driver training programmes, as well as childcare facilities.
