The Alabama city of Leeds, named in honor of the town by the same name in England, is located in the three counties of Jefferson, St. Clair, and Selby. It was incorporated as a city in 1887 and did well economically due to the building of the Georgia Pacific Railroad and the production of iron ore in the vicinity.
