Named for American Revolutionary soldier Major General Benjamin Lincoln, the city of Lincoln, Alabama is in Talladega County. The first post office in town was established in 1850, and the town was called Kingsville at that time. In 1856, the name was changed to Lincoln. When the Georgia Pacific railroad came through the area in 1883, the town was moved a quarter mile south to take advantage of the depot.
