Conway is the seat of Faulkner County, Arkansas, and home to three post-secondary educational institutions, giving it the nickname, "The City of Colleges". Conway was founded by Asa P. Robinson, who came to the region shortly after the Civil War as the chief engineer for the railroad, laying off a town site around the depot and naming it Conway Station.
