Crescent City, California, is the county seat of Del Norte County. It is named after a stretch of beach just south of the city which is shaped like a crescent. It is the headquarters of Redwood National Park and also the site of Pelican Bay State Prison, a so-called supermax facility which houses the most dangerous inmates in the state.
