Palm Desert is a city in California’s Riverside County. Originally known as Old MacDonald Ranch, its name was changed to Palm Village in the 1920s after date palms were planted in the area. Residential development started in 1943 in conjunction with the army maintenance camp in the region. In 1948, the Palm Desert Corporation started developing and marketing the area, and in 1951, it was renamed Palm Desert. It is a tourist destination for golfers and resort-goers.
