Rohnert Park, California, was incorporated in 1962 and is in Sonoma County. It was named in honor of the Rohnert family, who owned the Rohnert Seed Farm in the area. In 1956, there were only four adults living within the boundaries, but the advent of the 101 Freeway in 1957, the population began to swell. By the time it was incorporated, the population was nearly 2,000.
