The city of San Ramon, in Contra Costa County, is a suburb of both San Francisco and Silicon Valley. Despite its name, the San Ramon Creek, for which the city was named, was not named after a saint, but instead, after a sheepherder named Ramon. The word "San" was perpended to the name in order to fit in with the Spanish naming custom.
