Stockton is the county seat of San Joaquin County in northern California. In 1848, gold miner Charles Weber realized there was more money in meeting the needs of gold miners. Armed with that epiphany, he bought 49,000 acres and founded Stockton. The city was named Tuleburg, Gas City, and Mudville before being named in honor of Commodore Robert Stockton.
