Known as "The Rose of New England," the city of Norwich, Connecticut is the seat of New London County. The city was founded in 1659 by settlers from Old Saybrook, Connecticut, who bought the land from the leader of the Mohegan tribe, Chief Uncas. It was incorporated in 1784 and a major center of activity for the Sons of Liberty. It is also the birthplace of Benedict Arnold.
