Leesburg, Florida, is situated in Lake County, at the head of the Oklawaha River system. It was named after the family of the first settler, Evander McIver Lee, by his brother Calvin. First incorporated in 1875, it was Sumter County's county seat until 1887k when Lake County was created. It is the site of the plane crash which took Ozzy Osbourne's guitarist Randy Rhoads in 1982.
