Idaho Falls, Idaho is the Bonneville County seat. Originally settled around the timber bridge known as Taylor's Crossing, over the Snake River, a bank, hotel, cafe, and livery stable sprouted up. Within a year, there was also a stage coach station and mail service. In 1862, the town changed its name to Eagle Rock. In 1891, the town renamed itself Falls after the rapids which swirled beneath the bridge.
