Ada County is home to Meridian, Idaho. Settled along Five Mile Creek, its first school was opened in 1885, and the mail drop was established along the railroad line. In 1893, the Order of Odd Fellows opened a chapter and named its lodge Meridian after the street it sat on. The town adopted the name and was incorporated as a village in 1893.
