The Idaho city of Twin Falls, located in the Magic Valley, is the county seat of Twin Falls County. In 1812 and 1813, Robert Stuart led an overland expedition from Astoria to St. Louis. The expedition passed through what is now Twin Falls, and was eventually the route called the Oregon Trail. The first permanent settlement was a stage coach stop in 1864 near the town. It was founded in 1904 as a planned community and is named in after the nearby waterfall on the Snake River.
