Located in the northwestern corner of the state, Schererville is a part of Lake County, Indiana. Long before Indiana became a state, and before the city was founded, the area on which it is situated was known as the "crossroads", as several Indian trails that later became routes for settlers traveling west intersected here. This led to its nickname, "Crossroads of the Nation".
