West Lafayette is a city in Tippecanoe County, Indiana. Situated across the Wabash River from Lafayette, it is home to Purdue University. The city was formed through a merger of the adjacent towns of Chauncey, Oakwood and Kingston, and remained a small village until Purdue University opened in 1869.
