Falouth, Massachusetts is in Barnstable County. It was first settled by English colonists in 1660, incorporated in 1686, and named by Bartholomew Gosnold for the city by that name in Cornwall, England. Its early economy was based on farming, salt works, whaling, shipping, and sheep.
