The Town of Winthrop, Massachusetts, is a city in Suffolk County. It was settled in 1635 and known at that time as Pullen Poynt, and it played an important role in the American Revolutionary battle known as the Battle of Chelsea Creek. It was named after Deane Winthrop, son of the first Governor of Massachusetts.
