Straddling the boundary of Akron Township to the north and Fairgrove Township to the south, the village of Akron is in Tuscola County, Michigan.

The Akron post office serves the village Akron, as well as the southern and western parts of Akron Township, and portions of northern Fairgrove Township, most of Wisner Township, and small portions of Almer and Columbia townships.

Merry Road (Main Street) divides the village into east and west portions, and Akron Road (Beach Street) separates the village north and south. Unionville is about eight and a half miles north-northeast, and Fairgrove is just under four and a half miles south-southwest of Akron. Flint is about fifty miles to the south.

Originally known as Beach's Corners for the first settler in the area, Charles H. Beach, who came there in 1854, the community was renamed on July 23, 1857, when a post office was established there, with Samuel B. Covey as its first postmaster. It was named for the township, which had been named for the Ohio city by that name.

The village was platted by Samuel Lynn in 1882, and incorporated as a village in 1910.

Topics related to the village are appropriate for this category, although websites representing businesses, organizations, churches, or individuals from Akron may be listed here, as well.
