Barbeau is an unincorporated community in Bruce Township, eastern Chippewa County, in the northeastern Upper Peninsula of Michigan.

Barbeau is situated along E 15 Mile Road, about twenty miles south of Sault Ste. Marie, and west of the Saint Marys River, across from Neebish Island.

The first European-American settler in the region was Thomas Henderson, who took a homestead there in 1877, and became the community's first postmaster when a post office was established on November 7, 1883. Although the post office was closed on June 15, 1909, it was restored on May 27, 1916. The community was named for Peter B. Barbeau, another early settler.
