Les Cheneaux Culinary School is also located in Cedarville.

Cedarville began as a lumber town in 1884. Besides the lumber harvested in the immediate area, it served as a port for the transport of lumber and wood products, particularly cedar, from the surrounding region. A post office was established in Cedarville on July 14, 1888, with William Clarke as postmaster.
