Gregory, Michigan is the principal center of activity in Unadilla Township, in southwestern Livingston County.

The unincorporated community consists of about seventy homes, and a dozen small to moderately-sized businesses, including a grocery store, hardware store, restaurant, barbershop, service station, and a bank. Basically, Gregory is a small residential community with a few businesses supporting residents and passersby.

As an unincorporated community, there are no defined boundaries, but Gregory is concentrated at the intersection of M-36 and M-106, and near the center of the township. Ann Arbor is about twenty-five miles to the southeast, while Lansing is about thirty-five miles to the northwest.

Incorporated cities and villages within twenty miles of the village include Stockbridge, Pinckney, Chelsea, Marion, Fowlerville, Dansville, Dexter, Howell, Webberville, Brighton, and Grass Lake. There are several other unincorporated communities within ten miles of Gregory, including Williamsville, Bullis Crossing, Plainfield, Unadilla, Anderson, Kaiserville, Chalkerville, Hell, and Parkers Corners.

Although there were some farms in the area prior to that time, its settlement began in 1844 when the Grand Trunk Railroad came through the area, opening a branch station and depot on land acquired from Halstead Gregory, who had a farm there. Gregory opened a store near the depot, and a post office was established in his store on March 14, 1884, with Halstead Gregory as postmaster.
