Harrison, Michigan attracts thousands of visitors who come to enjoy the city's recreational facilities and to visit the twenty lakes within twenty minutes of the city.
There are two lakes within the city limits, Budd Lake and Little Long Lake, while McWatty Lake is just outside Harrison's boundaries.
The largest of these, Budd Lake, is a 175-acre body of water entirely within the city limits and bordered by Wilson State Park, a 36-acre wooded campground with 160 campsites and a sandy beach. There is a boat ramp at the southern end of the lake. Budd Lake is an important tourist attraction, with several homes and cabins along the shore. The lake is used for swimming, fishing, and boating.
Most of Little Long Lake is in Hayes Township, but about fourteen acres of the 43-acre lake is within the city limits, just east of Budd Lake. Although Little Long Lake is mostly surrounded by private residences, there is a public boat launch in the northwest corner that can be used by boaters and fishermen.
McWaddy Lake is a 15-acre lake north of Little Long Lake and the northeastern corner of Harrison.
Harrison also has about three hundred acres of park and recreation land for a population of just over two thousand. The city operates seven public parks and a non-motorized trail system, and its residents and visitors have access to other recreational facilities within the city, such as Wilson State Park and the Clare County Fairgrounds. The city is developing a nature trail in City Park and a Dog Park near its downtown section.
There are several hotels, motels, and vacation resort cabins and cottages in Harrison, providing places for visitors and passersby to stay. The focus of this guide is on guest accommodations within the city.
