According to a recent survey, residents of Ithaca are considerably less religious than the average Michigander or American. While 49.4% of Americans and 41.9% of Michiganders cited an affiliation with a religious body, only 31.3% of respondents in Ithaca did so. Of these, the majority were Catholics, and they were followed closely by those who cited an affiliation with various non-denominational Protestant churches or with Christian denominations that were not part of the survey. Of the denominations that were represented in the survey, the Catholics were followed distantly by the Methodists, Lutherans, Presbyterians, Pentecostals, Mormons, Baptists, and Episcopalians, while no other religions garnered as much as one-tenth of one percent.
