Lamont, Michigan is an unincorporated community on the north side of the Grand River in western Tallmadge Township, western Ottawa County.

While there are no set boundaries for unincorporated communities, Lamont is mostly located along Leonard Street, west of its intersection with 48th Avenue, including a few side streets.

Cities and villages within twenty miles of Lamont include Coopersville, Walker, Grandville, Hudsonville, Grand Rapids, Wyoming, Fruitport, Spring Lake, East Grand Rapids, Zeeland, Ferrysburg, and Grand Haven, while the unincorporated communities of Marne, Allendale, Tallmadge, and Pearline are within ten miles.

The European-American settlement of the Lamont area began in 1833, when Harry and Zine Steele settled on the banks of the Grand River. On January 9, 1851, a post office was established as Steele's Landing, with Reuben Reynolds as its first postmaster. Later that year, the Steels's platted a townsite as Middleville, for its location between Grand Rapids and Grand Haven, but the post office retained the name of Steele's Landing.

In 1855, a Grand Rapids resident named Lamont Chubb offered the village a road scraper in exchange for naming the community for him. The offer was accepted, and the village and post office were renamed Lamont on July 2, 1856.
