Berrien RESA is one of fifty-six education service agencies in Michigan. While headquartered in Berrien Springs, it provides programs and services to the school districts in Niles.

Lake Michigan College is a public community college whose main campus is in Benton Township, although it has regional campuses in Niles and South Haven. Southwestern Michigan College is a public community college based in Dowagiac, with a campus just outside the city limits of Niles.
