The focus of this portion of our guide is on ministries and places of worship in Pontiac, Michigan, as well as other topics related to faith, religion, or spirituality.

In the context of religion, faith refers to the belief and trust in a Higher Power, even in the absence of empirical proof. True faith is not something that is experienced only on Sundays, but something that we carry with us.

Religion is an organized system of beliefs, often about a deity, that generally involves rituals, a code of ethics, a philosophy of life, and a worldview.

Spirituality suggests a search for meaning in life, and may refer to our relationship with a Higher Power.

A recent survey suggested that residents of Pontiac were more religious than those in the average locality in Michigan or the United States. According to that survey, 50.6% of Pontiac respondents claimed affiliation with a particular religion, while 49.4% of Americans and 41.9% of Michiganders were religious.

More than half of the Pontiac respondents who claimed a religion were Catholics, and the Catholics were followed distantly by the Methodists, and the Methodists were followed closely by those who adhere to Judaism. Others, in order of prominence, included Lutherans, Baptists, Presbyterians, Pentecostals, Muslims, Episcopalians, and Mormons, although more than nine percent cited an affiliation with a Christian denomination that was not part of the survey, or with various non-denominational churches.

Regardless of the religion, denomination, or sect, ministries and places of worship in Pontiac are appropriate for this category.
