The focal point of this part of our guide is on attractions and events in Richmond, Michigan.

Although the population of Richmond is under six thousand, the city is an outer suburb of the Detroit Metro Region, yet in the Blue Water Area of the Lower Peninsula's Thumb Region, popular with tourists.

The city has a local library, as well as a community theater group. Founded in 1965, the Richmond Community Theatre's home is the former First Congregational Church, registered as a state and national historical monument. Its productions have included classical and original plays, as well as children's productions in schools throughout Southeastern Michigan, and workshops for K-8th-grade students.

Richmond is a starting point for the Macomb Orchard Trail, a 23-5-mile multi-use, non-motorized trail that follows the track of an abandoned railroad in northern Macomb County, connecting with the Stony Creek Metropark, Bloomer Park, and the Paint Creek Trail.

For its residents, the city maintains three parks, including baseball fields, soccer fields, tennis courts, an outdoor swimming pool, and playground facilities.

The Richmond Area Historical and Genealogical Society maintains three historic buildings and a replica building in Bailey Historic Park. These include a one-room schoolhouse built in 1885, the former Grand Trunk Railroad Depot, and a family log cabin and outhouse, built in 1850. Housing its museum and offices, the replica building is of a blacksmith shop.
